Chiswick River Walkway

The Thames Path in Chiswick is to get a river walkway to allow the path to pass under the railway bridge at Duke’s Meadow.

As shown on the map, the railway bridge blocks off the path forcing walkers to navigate some distance to get past. The red arrow being the new structure.

The design is very sleek, although the walkway seems quite narrow, as if designed primarily for walkers rather than welcoming cyclists also.

You can see from this view that the design is intended to complement the existing bridge by referencing the bracing structure. The existing bridge is above the new walkway in this picture.

So the question is, if Hounslow can do it then why not Tower Hamlets?
